The Benue State Government has commenced the reticulation of water to major
streets in Otukpo and surrounding communities, signaling a major step toward
addressing the long-standing challenge of water scarcity in the area.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and
Climate Change, Ugwu Odoh, who explained that the ongoing excavation and pipeline
installation work seen across the town is part of the larger water reticulation project
initiated by the Ministry.
Commissioner Odoh appealed to residents to cooperate with the workers on-site,
noting that their support is crucial to the timely and successful execution of the
project.
He stated that the initiative is in fulfillment of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s promise to
improve access to clean and safe water across Benue State. He added that with the
recent completion of the rehabilitation of the Otobi Water Works by CGC Nigeria
Limited, the government is now focused on ensuring efficient distribution of water to
end-users.
